There was some serious competition across the medical technology industry in September as teams took on the 2026 AXREM Million Steps Challenge, and Team BMA certainly put its best foot forward.
After the steps had been counted, checked and verified, British Medical Auctions finished third overall with an incredible 203,198 steps.
With a team of just 32 people at BMA, we’re particularly proud to have found ourselves on the podium alongside some much larger names in the industry.
Not bad for a small team from Bracknell!
One BMA superstar went even further...
While the whole team contributed to our third-place finish, one person deserves a special mention.
Darryl Challenger clocked up an astonishing 54,668 steps on 17th September, earning the highest individual daily step count of the entire challenge.
Yes, you read that correctly. 54,668 steps. In one day.
To recognise his achievement, AXREM CEO Sally Edgington visited BMA HQ to personally present Darryl with a Kindle as his prize.
A very well-deserved reward, although perhaps a slightly more sedentary hobby than he’s used to!
Stepping up for Dementia UK
Of course, there was something much more important than bragging rights behind this year’s challenge.
Together, the AXREM community raised an incredible £9,600 for Dementia UK, making every one of those steps count towards a brilliant cause.
The challenge brought together organisations from across the medical technology sector, encouraging teams to get moving, have some fun and raise money along the way.
With Philips taking first place, EIZO finishing second and BMA securing third, we were delighted to see our small but mighty team so high on the final leaderboard.
A huge congratulations to everyone at BMA who contributed their steps, and to every member of the wider AXREM community who took part and helped raise such a fantastic amount for Dementia UK.
And an extra special congratulations to Darryl, our undisputed step king for 2026! 👑
We might be a small team, but apparently we’re very difficult to keep still.
