🎨 “FAC Up the System”
A tribute to Madchester’s explosive 80s/90s music revolution, FAC Up the System transforms a traditional symbol of authority, the gavel, into a riot of sonic and visual history.
This hand-painted piece immortalises the music forces that shaped not just a city, but an entire era and youth culture. Inspired by Factory Records and icons like Joy Division, New Order, The Fall, The Smiths, James, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, 808 State, Oasis, and the legendary nightclub The Haçienda, the gavel acts as a visual mixtape of Manchester’s cultural legacy.
Created for the Gavel Art Trail 2025 in support of our incredible charity partners, the auction is now open — and every bid supports community causes across the UK.
